There are probably cables at Radio Shack and other places that go from two RCA plugs (or jacks) to a 1/8th-inch stereo miniplug. The next issue is getting the stereo RCA signal into the iMac. The easiest way to do this is to pass the signal through a stereo receiver's Phono input and to grab the sound from a Tape output or VCR output. Typically, you want to convert the signal to line level, with the RIAA equalization curve removed. (The mere fact that many of them use RCA-style jacks and plugs does not mean that the signal is the same.) One is that many turntables do not generate line-level output. Is there a way that the two can be connected to do that? I have a turntable that I would like to connect to my 2007 iMac to be able to play records through the iMac.
